Universal Audio does it again

Vocoders have been around for many years, and have been used on many productions. It's an interesting tool, but a fun one at that. The idea of being able to transform any vocal into a weird robotic sound, or controlling the melodic structure of any source going in, makes a vocoder a great tool to have in your arsenal. Even though it's not your every day go to plug in, it can be useful in adding that extra sizzle to your production. There are many great Productions are up there that has used this technique to make a vocal stand out in a special way. Daft Punk is a good example of using this tool in a very powerful and creative fashion. The other positive note I'd like to make I'm using this type of plug in, is that it doesn't take a lot of experience in allowing you to use this. It's basically an experimental process and the one that you can try many different options until you hear something that's pleasing and interesting to the ear.

Here is just some of the cool features this plug in offers:

  • Generates iconic robotic vocal textures with classic analog vocoder tone
  • 12-voice polyphonic carrier synth with multiple waveforms and selectable octave
  • Freeze function can be DAW-synced to clock division, or controlled via MIDI
  • Variable bands (4, 8, 12, 16, 20) offering vintage to modern vocoding effects
  • Notes and chords can be entered in real time with the built-in keyboard or via MIDI

So.. Do yourself a favor and go to the UA website and download the free demo, and see i this plug in is for you. Remember though, it should be used in a proper situation and with a creative state of mind. Experiment with as many vocal tracks as you can, and then make your decision.
