A little history

Back in 1974, an amazing machine would be invented. The RE-201 SPACE ECHO from Roland Corporation. This machine would come with a "sound that came from outer space”. This was again another incredible sounding piece of gear that Roland would create and making a mark in the music industry! It combines echo and reverb all in one incredible sounding machine. This incredible and robust box became so famous and sought after, that it became a touring and recording piece of gear for many big artists like the names of, Portishead, Underworld, Fatboy Slim, Dust Brothers, Jean Michel-Jarre, Mr. Oizo, Bob Marley, Vangelis, Sneaker Pimps, Future Sound of London, The Orb, KISS, Sublime, Luke Vibert, Radiohead, Lauryn Hill and Tomita, to name a few.

When magnetic tape technology became the industry standard for recording, engineers soon realized that they could use their real to real recorders to create a delay and echo type of effect for their artists and Productions. This echo sound would soon become very popular in all types of recording

“The Roland RE-201 Space Echo is truly a Vintage (1973) piece of music technology with lots of appeal even oday.”

                                                Space is the Place…..

“Universal Audio has painstakingly captured every quirk and characteristic of this complex device. For example, just like the hardware, you can drive the input hard to add hair to a vocal, or widen a drum bus with fat analog character. Tweak the controls and harness seemingly infinite wow and flutter and pitch shifting combinations — perfect for energizing electric guitars. From rockabilly slapback to hazey trails of swirling delay, the Galaxy Tape Echo is a secret sauce for any source in any genre."

Universal Audio does it again

Introducing, the Universal Audio Galaxy Space Echo. This plug-in is amazing! I I probably love time based affects more than anything as far as my go to tools for production and mixing. When I took this plug-in and inserted on one of my tracks, I was brought on our way. Once again Universal Audio has managed to replicate an amazing sounding piece of gear! The engineers took meticulous time and care in creating all the nuances, noise, parameters, and all the wonderful options that this machine brings in it's hard with version.

If I could name one genre of music that could give you an example of what these effects sound similar to, it would be reggae. Those incredible echoes that all types of reggae films and drumbeats have, so I'm very familiar to one of many effects that this machine can bring to your mixes. Do yourself a favor and download the demo and play with it, and enjoy what you will be listening to. And keep an eye out for Universal Audio's discounts that are often offered on their website.

Thank you Universal Audio for another incredible sounding plug-in. You guys rock!

And thank you all once again for checking out our blog, and please keep checking in for new reviews.
