Universal Audio does it again
I remember constantly seeing this unit in a store where I used to work as a recording studio sales associate. I can not mention the name, but it is one of the biggest music equipment retailers in the United States. I remember big-time producers and engineers coming in and always asking for precisely this piece. They didn't want to try it nor play with it, they just wanted to buy it, no questions asked. After closing a few sales which included the Manley passive, it became evident that this was no ordinary piece of gear, and when researched I came to learn that this was a standard piece of equipment in mixing and mastering. The beautiful dark gray face and big black knobs made it even so much more harder to forget.
It's four independent passive EQ bands with its unique ability of selecting shelf or bell formats along with it's passive filter circuitry, audio transformers, tube gain staging, and its ability to boost or cut 20 db’s our some of what make this unit such a powerhouse in any studio rack! It took six months of careful and intricate programming by UA’s engineer design team to come up with a software version of this amazing box. It comes in a standard and a mastering version.
